Just watching the NYC twitter conversations, comments, etc. - amount of drama/negativity expressed - seems fairly high and to have increased over last week.

My impression just from perusing the online material (and granted - this impression might be inaccurate since not firsthand experience) is that they’re pretty functional in terms of getting shit done (and there don’t seem to be lots of problems that arise out of not doing homework - as OO seems to be having), but there appears to be quite a bit of interpersonal conflict/dysfunction (including some ego-power/control-limelight stuff) and substantial structural issues with less-than-complete-transparency, politics, and resulting distrust.

Since you don’t know me - and are probably wondering who is this dude. I’m a 50 year old scientist (currently a doctoral student working on evolution of invasive species at UW-Madison); lefty activist pretty much all my adult life (at the radical end of reformist liberal); essentially a Gandhian/MLK pacifist; threw myself into the WI chedder-revolution early this year (and subsequent recall efforts).

Should be getting shit done, but have been preoccupied with Occupy over the last couple months (putting in some time locally, making posters, blogging a bit - though I don’t twitter, pushing MSM to correct errors in Occupy-related stories, watching developments online, etc.).

I want to see OO succeed and have been concerned about the impact of the violence/vandalism issue (including repercussions for perception of Occupy nationally) - thus my e-mails to you.
Also - if you find my e-mails annoying/distracting rather than useful, please let me know.
