Wild Old Woman Nina (76) says ‘each of us represent 100s of people who can’t be here.’ Nina was first involved in politics during the McCarthy era in 1952. She walked around campus w/ progressive party buttons promoting black woman as Vice President. People found that pretty radical.
Nina says activism was frightening in 50’s. Consequences of being repressed were dire. She wanted to go to mississippi freedom summer in 64 but she had 3 kids to take care of.
