This map shows the world in 600, 50 years before Islam sweeps the Middle East. The Sassanid Empire’s westernmost region in today’s Iraq has become a haven for Heretics, Alchemists and Religious Dissenters like Hussite Prague in 1400s or Holland in the 1600s. Aramaic Christians and Greek Philosophers who were repressed in Athens, Constantinople, Alexandria and Antioch build a strong syncretic tradition, fusing Alexandria’s learning with India’s at the Academy of Gundashapur in Mesopatamia.
The Sassanid empire includes Hinayana Buddist Kingdoms in Central Asia. The Sassanids had extensive contact with Tang Dynasty China and India, The Aramaic Chistians and Jews formed a vector of communication with Alexandria and Antioch. This was the first time that Chinase, Indian, Judeo-Christian and Greek Learning were mixed. This Polyglot formed the basis for the rise of Mesopatamian Baghdad in the 800s. The Jews Greeks and Aramaic/Syriac Christians played a central role along with the Muslims in Baghdad’s Scientific rovolution of the 800s.
